FAQs

Committing to Yoga Teacher Training is a big decision and one that you want to take time with. Consider what your intention is for taking a teacher training. What do you hope to get out of it. Is it for your own personal development, to assist others in their journey, or both, etc. Meet with the teacher trainers of various programs and ask what their intention is and make sure that you connect to their purpose. Review their experience and ask for testimonials/ contacts of previous students who you can reach out to. Make this a journey from the heart, when you come from this place, you will find the teacher that is right for you.

WHAT IS CLASSICAL YOGA?

Classical Yoga follows a 2,000-year-old philosophical book called The Yoga Sutras or the Rules of Yoga. Yoga means any pursuit that leads to a complete mastery of one’s self by uniting the lower self with the higher self. Classical Yoga brings one to a higher state of consciousness using a variety of techniques, including, but not exclusive to posture practice.

WHERE ARE THE INTENSIVES HELD?

IS YOUR TRAINING REGISTERED?

Yes, ‘Be The Shift’ Teacher Trainings are registered with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. MOVE by Tracey McDonald is a registered school and Tracey is E-RYT1000 (experienced registered teacher with a 1000 hours). Student can register their certification upon completion.

WHAT IF I MISS A CLASS?

Practice is the point. Patanjali said that without practice, nothing can be achieved. Yoga Teacher Training is a big commitment and it is important to reflect on where you are at and if you are able to take responsibility for your time, at this point in your life. That being said, life happens, and things can come up spontaneously. You will get out of the training, what you put in to it. It is your journey that you and I must allow, so do your best to be present and show up and the rest we can explore when needed. NOTE: if this is a concern for you, further discussion should be explored in consultation prior to registration.

WHAT WILL I NEED FOR ONLINE LEARNING?

We meet weekly, live on Zoom. You will need access to a computer and to internet.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ONLINE LEARNING?

There are many benefits to online learning with the two biggest ones being flexibility and processing. With Yoga for the common householder in mind, online learning allows the flexibility of working around our daily/ weekly schedules, without taking too much time away from family and other responsibilities. Many trainings consist of full weekend (Friday-Sunday) trainings which can be difficult to accommodate. As well, for some taking in a full weekend of knowledge is a lot to process at once and can cause students to feel overwhelmed and to miss information. With online training, we have the opportunity to break down the learning to bite size pieces that can be applied for a full week before we insert more knowledge. With online learning, we have ample time to learn and practice the philosophy of Yoga through weekly discussion and homework, before we practice and apply it in person.
